Alex Lloyd- Blog 4: One Adventure's End is Another's Beginning

Greetings earthlings!

I imagine most people can relate to the bittersweet feeling of sitting in an airport, sharing space with thousands of hurried others, getting ready to return home from travels of some variety. Stressed out parents, conked out kids, delayed travelers asleep on the floor, everybody vying for the last remaining outlet like it’s a quidditch match. Everyone waiting to be somewhere—anywhere—but here. Airports are both the exciting first facet of a journey, and the grueling final obstacle before you finally get home. Bittersweet.

Halo dari sisi lain dunia!

Two months into my placement and it feels like a whirlwind! I have had the unbelievable fortune of building 16 beautiful new friendships with strong, independent, and thoughtful young women from all over Indonesia, brought to Melbourne in the pursuit of their hopes and dreams.

Many greetings CAPI community!

I have to say, I am not sure of the best way to kick this blog post off. A lot has been happening, and it seems like I have been incredibly lucky thus far! I kicked off my research by presenting at, and acting as a convener for, the Multimedia, Mobility, & the Digital Southeast Asian Family workshop that took place at La Trobe University here in Melbourne towards the end of April and it was a smashing success! I met many spectacular scholars whose research interests were very relevant to my own, and many important conversations were had. I also received a great deal of positive and constructive feedback for my own research at the most perfect time.

Hello fellow globetrotters!

My name is Alex Lloyd. I figure I will kick off my blog for CAPI and QES while I sit here in the Los Angeles Airport for the next couple of hours, before my final flight to Melbourne.
