Victor Huyhn - Blog 3: The Final Days

Post type:
Blog post

As I sit typing up my last blog entry, I feel nostalgic about both my life in Vancouver and my time here in the south of India.  As I journey into the 5th month of my life spent here in Trivandrum, I reminisce about my time spent abroad and prepare for my final month here.

Victor Huynh - Podcast 2: The Magic of Labour Day

Post type:
Blog post

Here is my second podcast.  For this podcast, I talk about my experience participating in MFI's 3 days of Labour Day activities.  On the first day, I did a presentation on India's Emigration Act and engaged with labour minsters in a discussion about the current conditions of labour migration in India.  Although an intimidating experience, I gained a lot of perspective on social culture, political culture and myself.

Victor Huynh - Blog 2: Expectations, Assumptions and Appreciation

Post type:

Nearing the completion of 2 months of my internship with the National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) and Migrant Forums in India (MFI) and living in the Kerala state capital, Thiruvananthapuram or Trivandrum, I have come to realize many of my expectations and assumptions of life here as false and have grown a new appreciation for southern India.

Here I am sitting in my room at the YMCA Trivandrum. The first week has really been a whirlwind! After over 24 hours of travel and almost missing my connection in Mumbai, I arrived safe and sound in Trivandrum at 9am on Thursday January 17th! I was relieved to finally end the traveling and be able to make roots somewhere.
