Nicola Craig Hora - Blog 4: Reuse, Reduce and Recycle

Post type:

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Tsuzuki Incineration Plant and the Midori Recycling Center in Yokohama. This was my first time visiting a solid waste management center and I really learned a lot.

Kenda Chang-Swanson - Blog 7: Conversations about the intern experience!

Post type:
Blog post

Hello! Wow, time has flown by and it seems like just yesterday myself and fellow CAPI intern with PRIA, Sidney, were arriving in Delhi to begin our internships in India. Feel free to listen to this podcast to hear Sidney ask me about my experiences, some challenges, and lessons I've learned working in India. It's been a huge learning experience and am feeling grateful for all the fantastic people, experiences, and learnings from this time working with PRIA.

As my last blog post I decided to do a reflective podcast to help with processing everything that has transpired over the past few months in India. Kenda - the other CAPI intern in India - was kind enough to make an appearance as my interviewer.

What can we do?

You tell me there is a problem,

A problem that is hard to change,

One that, “I will never fully understand, even if I had observed it first hand.”

I naturally resist and hate that statement, however true,

Before beginning this blog post, I think it’s important to say that I am not a doctor, nor do I have any qualification that allows me to say for sure what is “healthy” or “unhealthy.” The following post is not meant to say what is a healthy or unhealthy body or body image, nor is it meant to be critical of anyone’s physique, or the physique to which they aspire.

Taiwo Afolabi Blog - Blog 2: My Poetry Inquiry

Post type:
Blog post

This blog is a reflective piece through poetry from my community of practice, research and personal thought process. Written in three short separate poems, I reflect on different social issues that have global-local implications and it is inspired by stories from applied theatre projects that I have undertaken among seniors, refugee youth, undocumented migrants, immigrant workers and displaced persons here in Victoria, Canada and elsewhere.

Jeanique Tucker - Blog 2: Fatigue

Post type:
Blog post

I am in a constant state of agitation. I am fatigued.  I started the year enthused about its possibilities but reality has a way of undermining expectations at every turn.  I am not without hope or agency or drive, but helplessness is a feeling that finds its way inside those moments, muting my perception of the outcomes.  But, I continue to push forward, to try to make change where I can, all the while recognizing my limitations.  I try to remind myself that limitations aren't automatic failures, but tests that require you prove your mettle.
